I want two parakeets, what should I feed them daily? We have dog food (Pedigree and Alpo) for the tortoises, the super market and the pet shop should have parakeet pellets, what fruits and veggies should I have? And how often should they eat each thing? Like, per week how much dog food with fruits and veggies should they have?

Keets should not eat the dog food as the ingredients are for dogs. Feed only the pellets designed for that species of animal or bird. You should give water, pellets cuttle bone and grits 24/7. They will like a dish with about a teaspoon of wild bird seed mix so they can have variety and choose what they need. You can remove the grits if they both eat some, you don’t want them to fill up on grits. Apple seems to be a safe fruit to feed them, a few tiny pieces a day as treats.
I dont know if you can feed them dog food. Feed them seed and vegetables and millet sprays for a treat. Put about a table spoon of seed per budgie and put alot of vegies like:
carrot ( may make them have orange poo)
silverbeet
broccoli
feed it to them raw, do not cook.
also dont feed them:
Chocolate
Avacado
Alchahole
Apple seeds
Soft drink
You should have a good bird food, like Harrison’s pellets. Give them treats once in a while and be sure to feed plenty of fresh veggies. if their poop is runny discontinue the veggies until it’s normal again. Good luck. do not give them dog food!
Parakeets should have 24-7 access to food and water, be it seeds or pelleted blends. Their metabolism is so high they can starve in 24 hours. Have available sprouted (bird) seeds, pieces of apple, broccoli, well washed dark leafy greens, bits of carrot, hard boiled egg, no dog or cat food, NO iceberg lettuce
