I just bought a rosy. It doesn’t chirp much yet. Only 5 days here. Anything you think would make he or she happier?

  2. loveofeathers says:

She could be molting . when I got mine they were scruffy and molting.

  3. loveofeathers says:

They are really quiet. Much quieter than a cockatiel or a budgie.

  4. mozzy248 says:

i just got a bourke but she is quite scruffy. does this mean she is old or that she had a bit of a tough time at her last home??

  5. emilysmysister says:

Your birds are very energetic, i wanted to make a room for them just like you but my cockatiels don’t like to be outside their cage…:P

i can tell you are a real bird lover, and they are all so beautiful

  14. loveofeathers says:

A dna test is the best way to tell, they are very hard to sex unless you are very experinced with the bourke. Usually when they mature the males will have a brighter color.

  15. athtastic says:

yeah i have quetstion can you sex a rosy by apperance or does it need to have DNA tested???

  16. Sparrowchan says:

I think Bourke’s are the best small bird to have as a pet…. they are quiet, calm, and affectionate. Not as noisy as budgies or ‘tiels. Good apartment pets. Crepuscular = most active dawn/dusk aka: when you’re home from school/work.
I have a normal female (pink belly, blue tail/wingtips, purple “shoulders”, grey back)

I only wish they were more well-known!

  17. budgieemporer says:

our family has a beautiful bourke in pink too .he is adorable and lets you kiss him .he sits quietly for hours and u can cuddle him very tame and not vicious at all .

  18. loveofeathers says:

Thanks , they are very lovely birds, I have two of them now. Very quiet and tame. Mine were hand raised and come to me when I call them.
