Poll: Refilling Your Pet’s Medications?

By crittercare in General Pet Care on September 28th, 2009

I need your opinion, the owners of pets!
I do a lot of work on the website of my clinic, and she thought it might be worthwhile to ensure that customers put in mines for on-line drug of their animals rather than mentioned. This would mean. . .
It would be a 3-day wait for refills on-line compared to 24 hours called for mines a.
Problems with the fees would mean that would be within 3 days instead of on the same day (ie contacted if your pet is Bloodwork through). This does not apply to OTC medicines, including vitamins, supplements, flea / tick properties or to prevent heart worm.
Would you use it? What are the pros and cons for your opinion?

  1. I worked at a clinic.. people all too often called saying OMG I’m out of meds NOW.. people often don’t think ahead, and if there is a problem, that means they need to think at least six days ahead.. often meds are given for a week at a time ..
don’t quite understand why there would be a three day wait.. can’t someone check the email /database hourly or even twice a day to take care of the refills?

  2. I would use your online refill request.
Reason is, I work midnight shift and of course a day sleeper. Sometimes I get up for a few hours a day to do chores, etc, but mostly I am not ‘thinking’ about what needs to get done when it comes to things like prescription refills. Or I realized I am low at 10pm when I am giving Bonnie her evening dose.
When I do think of these things is about 3am when the rest of the world is sound asleep! So yes, I think this may be an option for us pet caretakers that are out of sync with the ‘daytime’ world.
The down side in general is the 3 day turnaround. I saw your explanation on the Dogs board. Your clinic could offer this service and if it catches on, maybe you could train a coworker to help you monitor it.
Purrs to you for thinking of ways to help us pet caretakers.

  3. The wait’s not worth it. Not when you can pick up the phone and call and have it quicker. Besides- I forget about stuff in 3 days *lol* Hope that helps!
