to get him to stop you have to blow on him, and put him in his cage with the cover over it for like 2 minutes EVERY time, he’ll get that its wrong eventually. (took mine 2 days)

This man is such a typical non bird person. He moves suddenly a lot. He would need to know special things to be able to handle them hehe. On the other hand, they do like attention and movement at the right times.

    Rosie rarely bites me.
But sometimes, in her play, she does nip me. She is a pink-cockatoo, and it DOES hurt. Does this thing work with cockatoos too?

  14. sebadam2007 says:

Yeh i watched all of it till i found how to do the technique but there was nothing.

  15. rwolff01 says:

i receive more mail from him then from any other company or organisation, almost or kinda like spam…but anyway, these birds always, bite…i have learned u just have to take it like a man or lady…the less u show they can hurt you or scare you, the less they will do it, but they will always do some time or another, and when mine does, its prolly in a bad mood, so i just leave it alone for the day

  16. wasians000 says:

mine doesnt stop biting till it sees blood

  17. IBringDoom says:

You could try sound-training the birdie, clack your tongue and give her a treat over and over for no reason for a little while and the bird will start to understand the game of clack=treat. Now do what you normally do and every time the bird doesn’t bite and every bit you get closer clack your tongue and give her a treat, when she bites don’t clack. after a while most birds will understand that biting does nothing and that not biting gets them food.

  18. KoreaDarling says:

I don`t pull away she gets too exited and just starts biting me. ):

  19. IBringDoom says:

that’s why you at least don’t pull your hand away, it might cost a bit of pain but very quickly the bird will figure that biting doesn’t help in any way and the bird stops biting.

I did exactly the same thing when I first got my Sulfur crested cockatoo about 2o years ago. He was 3 years old when I got him and although being hand raised he was still very edgey around unfamiliar people.

All Cockatoos I have had have always been big on bluffing so it made sense to me not to back down. After a couple of days he never tired it on me again. I have to say though he would take a nice piece out of anyone else that went anywhere near him.

    hey…
i love the bird tips… I was thinking about getting a conure, or parrot or cockatoo pretty soon or so so I want all the tips I can get now before actually getting one. I think large birds are so beautiful and maybe later making them talk will be the next challenge. thanks so much for making this vid it does help a lot. Make some more vids if you can later about some more tricks.

  25. amymint5 says:

But sometimes they are so quick to bite you the back of the hand is too late….l got bit on my wrist (missed my vein!) he snapped into my wrist (probably thinking it was an apple and gave it a good twist to take a chunk out)..
