I am new to dog grooming and wanna know if anyone could recommend a good clipper to buy oster or andis?

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone is experienced in the dog grooming industry enough to help me out in picking out good clippers and also a good price. I wanna know what is better Andis or Oster or is there something else I want some that will last a long time and that will give my clients a quality and comfortable cut. If anyone can help please do thanks Cathy

Hi i groom and clip my Schnauzers and i have an Oster. It is an awesome clipper with two battery packs and a rechargeable pack. It did cost quite a bit i think it was close to $300.00. But it is so awesome and it will last a long time.

Both are good. I prefer the Oster but my BF likes the Andis. The Andis is a sealed clipper and requires no maintenance, it runs cooler but has a vibration that bothers my hands. I find the switch annoying on them. The Oster requires regular monthly maintenance and need the brushes changing. They can run very hot if you dont clean regularly ((also needs oiling and greasing)).Pros and cons for both.

Personally I use Wahl clippers for both dogs and horses. I find they are durable and easy to use. Just remember the power of scissors and comb!

I have a variety of different brands of clippers but I prefer Andis over the others. They are slimmer & fit better in my hands(very small hands), don’t have vents that blow air like most Oster & don’t become as hot as quick as Oster or Wahl brands. Wahl ones also sounds a bit louder & have more vibration. Petedge.com usually has the best prices & largest variety of clippers. I have 4 different Andis clippers & like them all but I do prefer the lighted ones for clipping black/dark dogs esp. clipping the privates & underarms. The light really does help you see better. You will need more than one in case something happens.(which always does when you least expect it)
