How Do You Retrain A Cat To Use The Litter Box?

We have had the cat fully checked out at the vet and are told it is behavioral. The cat box is cleaned daily and we have 4 boxes for 2 cats. We have tried Feliway diffusers to reduce stress and spend a lot of time with the cat. The only thing I have not tried yey is isolating her in a room with litter and food. Does this work? If yes, how do you transition out of the room?

Try a litter called Cat Attract from PetSmart for retraining. We used it for our cats and was amazed at how well it works!

Yes it actually works..I used to leave my cat in the bathroom isolated at night and she usd to do her business in the litter box…I did this for 2 weeks and She was used to it already..try it and see what happens..also if you see her trying to do poo and pee somewhere besides the litter box like on the floor..you keep picking her up and place her in the litter box…keep placing her in it until she does her business in the litter box..make sure you watch her a couple of times so you can see what attracts or distracts from the litter box..dont reward her for pissing on the floor…she’ll recognize what she is doing is wrong.. If you need more help e-mail me or Im me at dominibearhot727 =]..I know alot about animals so if you need help ask me!!

You may need to use a “cat repellant” spray on the areas she is using. We have 5 cats. One time, one of them (we don’t know which one) kept peeing on our beds! That will never do! Then I got some “cat repellant” spray at PetSmart or Petco, sprayed it on the spot, and that stopped the problem. It’s cat urination repellant spray, or something like that.
I love people who take their cats to the vet and take real good care of them. Good luck to you and the kitty.

I have a cat with behavioral litter box issues. I put her in the bathroom with a litter box and food for a few days, until she was always using the litter box. Then I just let her out and she was fine (I left the litter box in the bathroom after that).
Every once in awhile she’ll have a relapse and then I’ll shut her in the bathroom (usually overnight, but until she’s used the litterbox again) again. Usually that’s enough for her to figure out the situation, because she really hates being shut in the bathroom alone.
