This is a good all-purpose test kit for someone beginning freshwater fish-keeping. It’s also the most economical way I’ve found to purchase a wide variety of tests (it contains test solutions for pH, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates) in large volume. The directions are clear and concise and the color coded cards make readings easy.

I recently started up a freshwater tank and am learning the ropes as I go. I was doing some research on what to expect and what supplies I needed. I came across this product in a search and after reading other product reviews I decided to splurge and get this test kit. I think out of all the ones I reveiwed this is the only one that had all the 4 major tests in one case with ease of use that even a child can do (with supervision).

Got it, and everything came all organized and very neat.
Little glass vials and solutions, plus cards to tell you exactly how to do each test, along with color coding to show you the results. Everything was really simple to use, plus there were a variety of tests, enough to check the vitals on any freshwater tank.

This kit is wonderful and very accurate. It also saves a lot of money than doing the strip tests and gives you more accurate measurements. I’ve found it very easy to use, fast to use, and it’s helped me keep my aquariums in top condition. The only negative I can see is that it should have included one more vial since you do end up doing all the tests on the aquarium and that way you can have them all at once. It would also be nice to be able to purchase replacement vials since they do break (glass). Otherwise the cards are great for comparing colors, the booklet goes into detail that will help a new aquarium lover to keep their system in top form.

I wanted something somewhat sophisticated, yet simple to use. This is a great test kit. Includes tests for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH and high PH (I’m glad they included the high PH, because mine always runs around 8 to 8.2). The results are easy to compare to the color coded cards. Takes the guesswork out of cycling the aquarium.
