Ball Pythons For Sale

Ask to see the feeding record before purchasing and insist on having a copy when you buy one. If you’re not experienced with snakes then it could be an excellent idea to get a captive bred royal python, the number 1 place to get a captive bred Royal is definitely the breeders.

When you’re in the marketplace for a reptile your initial instinct might be to go to your local pet store. Most pet stores buy their reptiles from an importer. An importer is somebody that removes them from the wild and sells them to the stores at wholesale.

The bulk of these animals have illness and health issues that can cause death if not dealt with immediately. The thing is that the pet store won’t usually tell you where they acquired the reptiles from, and in a few cases may not even know themselves where they came from. This fact is true for some venders at your local reptile shows. I’m not trying to tell you that all of the venders are selling wild caught animals just that you need to ask them for some type of evidence they aren’t wild caught. If the offer for a reptile appears too good to be true then it is a wild caught.

A breeder wouldn’t sell their reptiles for a very low cost. So, if you’re someone who doesn’t care about all that. There are a couple of things you can look for to identify if the reptile is in robust health. Is the color bright and vibrant? Are the eyes glossy and clear? When you hold the reptile is it wheezing? Is the animal alert and respondent to you when being held, or is it just sitting there? Is the skin tight or is it hanging off? You may also ask the seller or pet store when it was last fed. You can even request them to feed it for you while you are there to see whether it takes the food. Ask them how long they had it, how old is it. Ok, so now you purchased your reptile and have it at home. You want to quarantine you new pet from all others.

Schedule an appointment with your local vet and have him check the stool for bugs. This could remove them and even help your snake with other issues that you may not see. After you have quarantined the reptile for roughly a month and have not seen or spotted any health problems then you’re in the clear.
